Worship
Each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and other special times.
A nursery is provided for preschool children.
Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month and at other times during the year.
Special services on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve
Included in the Sunday worship service is "A Time with Young Worshipers" (children's sermon)

Sunday morning education

9:30 am church school for adults
Children K–grade 4 are dismissed for Children's Church following the reading of the Scriptures
(they remain in the service on Communion Sundays).
Children in 5th grade and older meet after church (beginning 9/12)
"Thoughtful Christians" adult study/discussion group, Sundays after church and Coffee Call

Coffee Call
An opportunity after morning worship for fellowship, coffee and juice

Youth Program
Wednesday Nite Live
(resuming in October)
6:00 to 7:30 p.m., meal and activities for neighborhood children grades K through 8

Wednesday Night Live exists to enhance the lives of
others (both children and adults) through nourishment of the mind, body and
spirit while showing God's love in action by participating in our neighborhood,
encouraging good behavior and manners, and providing healthy fun.

Groups of eight meet in members' homes for dinner and fellowship

Community Programs

Occasional special programs in the Family Center

St. John is a founding member of the Interfaith Community Council.
Special projects support
assistance to those in need in the area.
St. John
is a founding member of the Volunteer Caregivers of Kentuckiana,
   which offers training and consultation through the churches for respite 
caregivers for families of those with
Alzheimer's and other memory impairments.
Several non-church groups meet regularly at St. John, such as AARP (2nd Fridays,
1:00 p.m.) and Teeter Toddlers (Tuesday and Friday mornings usually 10:00 a.m.-–11:30 a.m.)
The first annual S. Ellen Jones Community Festival (street fair) was held
   August 16, 2008—sponsored by St. John in cooperation with its neighborhood 
   school, S. Ellen Jones, the S. Ellen Jones Neighborhood Association, and other 
   community groups


Special Events/Activities
Throughout the year special events such as:

- After-church meals and programs
- Annual church retreat
- Christmas and other fellowship dinners
- Church picnic
- Harvest Homecoming—Annual participation in this New Albany event (St. John's specialty, an
apple dumplings booth) organized by the deacons; income applied to special projects
- Prayer Tree (e-mail, telephone branches)
- Study groups on topics of general interest
- The Messenger, a monthly newsletter, and a weekly e-mail newsletter
- Vacation Bible School, in cooperation with other nearby churches
- Youth participation in summer camps at Pyoca
