Adversity
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
you shall cry for help, and he will say, Here I am. (Isaiah 58:9)
Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and
I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am
gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke
is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28–30)
Let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive
mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward
they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who
love Him. (James 1:12)
And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who
has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support,
strengthen, and establish you. (1 Peter 5:10)
Assurance
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.... Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life. (Psalm 23:1, 6)
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit
the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22)
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name,
you are mine. (Isaiah 43:1)
I am the Lord your God, the Holy One ... Do not fear, for I am with you.

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your
welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Depression
Where can I go from your spirit?
... if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there...
even the darkness is not dark to you,
the night is as bright as the day,

Doubts
I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened
or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.
(John 14:26)
Encouragement
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
They will receive blessing from the Lord. (Psalm 24:3-5)
All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,

Happy are those who consider the poor; the Lord delivers them in the
day of trouble. (Psalm: 41:1)

they die, will live. (John 11:25–26)
He will repay according to each one’s deeds: to those who by patiently doing
good seek for glory and honour and immortality, he will give eternal life. (Romans 2:6-7)
Now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, the advantage
you get is sanctification. The end is eternal life. (Roman 14:22)
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised
Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that
dwells in you. (Romans 8:11)

Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed,
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will
sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with
the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ
will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds
together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord
for ever. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—
who does not lie—promised them before the world began. (Titus 1:2)
Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you . . . And this is what he has
promised us, eternal life. (1 John 2:24–25)
Faith
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
(Psalm 37:4)
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:5)
The Lord always keeps his promises. (Psalm145:13)
I am the Lord your God, the Holy One . . . Do not fear not, for I am with
you. (Isaiah 43:3, 5)
Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive. (Matthew 21:22)
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who
believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (John 3:16)
I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever
follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my

When God desired to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise
the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it by an oath.

Fear

Forgiveness
You are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and
abounding in steadfast love. (Nehemiah 9:17)
I, I am He
who blots out your transgressions for my own sake,
and I will not remember your sins. (Isaiah 43:25)
If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins
and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
God’s Love
All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his decrees. (Psalm 25:10)
They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me;
and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them
and reveal myself to them. ... Those who love me will keep my word,
and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our
home with them. (John 14:21, 23)
In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers,
nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love
of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39)
And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:18)
See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God;
and that is what we are. (1 1ohn 3:1a)
God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.

God’s Presence
Where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them.
(Matthew 18:20)
I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how
much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask
him! (Luke 11:13)
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with
you for ever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive,
because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides
with you, and he will be in you. (John 14:16-17)
Draw near to God, and he will drawn near to you. (James 4:8)
God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides
in them. (1 John 4:15-16)
Grief
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)
Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice;
you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy.. . . So you have pain now;
but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take
your joy from you. (John:16:20, 22)
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those
who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus,
God will bring with him those who have died. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14)
Guidance
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:5)

Salvation

Strength
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. (Acts 1:8)
No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is
faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the
testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to
endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.
So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power
of Christ may dwell in me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from

and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;

Now who will harm you if you are eager to do what is good? 14But even
if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what

Eternal Life
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling-places. If it were not so,
would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so
that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14:2-3)
Those who drink of the water I give them will never be thirsty. The water
that I give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.
(John 4:14)
Anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life,
and does not come under judgment but has passed from death to life. (John 5:24)
This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe
in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day. (John 6:40)
I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though
they die, will live. (John 11:25–26)
He will repay according to each one’s deeds: to those who by patiently doing
good seek for glory and honour and immortality, he will give eternal life. (Romans 2:6-7)
Now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, the advantage
you get is sanctification. The end is eternal life. (Roman 14:22)
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised
Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that
dwells in you. (Romans 8:11)

Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed,
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will
sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
(1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with
the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ
will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds
together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord
for ever. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—
who does not lie—promised them before the world began. (Titus 1:2)
Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you . . . And this is what he has
promised us, eternal life. (1 John 2:24–25)
Faith
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
(Psalm 37:4)
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:5)
The Lord always keeps his promises. (Psalm145:13)
I am the Lord your God, the Holy One . . . Do not fear not, for I am with
you. (Isaiah 43:3, 5)
Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive. (Matthew 21:22)
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who
believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (John 3:16)
I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and
whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:35)
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever
follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my
servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honor. (John 12:26)
I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me
should not remain in the darkness. (John 12:46)
Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that
I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to
the Father. (John 14:12)
When God desired to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise
the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it by an oath.

Fear
I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened
or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
Even though I walk through the darkest valley [the valley of the shadow
of death], I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff—
they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)
I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears. (Psalm 34:4º
Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last. (Revelation 1:17)
Forgiveness
You are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and
abounding in steadfast love. (Nehemiah 9:17)
I, I am He
who blots out your transgressions for my own sake,
and I will not remember your sins. (Isaiah 43:25)
If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins
and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
God’s Love
All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his decrees. (Psalm 25:10)
They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me;
and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them
and reveal myself to them. ... Those who love me will keep my word,
and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our
home with them. (John 14:21, 23)
In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers,
nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love
of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39)
And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:18)
See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God;
and that is what we are. (1 1ohn 3:1a)
God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.

God’s Presence
Where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them.
(Matthew 18:20)
I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how
much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask
him! (Luke 11:13)
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with
you for ever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive,
because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides
with you, and he will be in you. (John 14:16-17)
Draw near to God, and he will drawn near to you. (James 4:8)
God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides
in them. (1 John 4:15-16)
Grief
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)
Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice;
you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy.. . . So you have pain now;
but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take
your joy from you. (John:16:20, 22)
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those
who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus,
God will bring with him those who have died. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14)
Guidance
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:5)
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare
and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)
But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these
things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)
Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the
door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone
who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
(Matthew 7:7-9)
I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)

But we are looking forward to the new heaven and new earth He has promised,
a world filled with God’s righteousness. (2 Peter 3:13)
Help (see also Adversity)
He delivers the needy when they call, the poor and those who have no
helper. He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the
needy. (Psalm 72:12-14)
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry for help, and
he will say, Here I am. (Isaiah 58:9)
The one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact,
will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12)
You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear
fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask

Let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive
mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
So we can say with confidence,
‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can anyone do to me?’ (Hebrews 13:6)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…
(Acts 1:8)
Christ redeemed us from thr curse of the law. .... In order that in Christ Jesus
the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive
the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:13-14)

I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world
you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!

Protection
His faithful promises are your armor and protection. (Psalm 91:4)
But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the
evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
Salvation
O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is great power to redeem. (Psalm 130:7)

He is able for all time to save those who approach God through him,
since he always lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25)
Strength
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. (Acts 1:8)
No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is
faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the
testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to
endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.
So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power
of Christ may dwell in me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from
the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
